Theory and history

The importance of history for all of us is much more than learning to avoid making the same mistakes. It permit us to learn from their successes, benefiting their knowledge and taking a forward step by improving what has been done. An architect needs to study and learn about the history of architecture, to feed and to interpret what makes a work special and magnificent. 

I consider necessary to study the past architecture to design something new, because even though it doesn’t offer a magic formula, it serves as a starting point for the design process. Also, to know the theory is as important as its history, because it establish the basis of what has been thought and innovated.
